The A.F.P.P (Association Formation Professionnelle Permanente), which manages the Institut des Métiers, was created in 1972 as an association under the law of 1901, in which the consular chambers (CCI 63 and CMA 63) are involved, as well as the City of Clermont-Ferrand, the Departmental Council, the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes Regional Council, as well as the professional, employer and employee trade union organisations

An incubator of talent for 50 years, the Institut des Métiers provides work-linked training under apprenticeship or professionalization contracts to nearly 2,000 apprentices in 6 sectors: Hotel and Restaurant (cooking, service and sommellerie), Catering (bakery, pastry-making, chocolate-making, delicatessen, butchery), Sales - Services (reception, specialised sales, customer advisor and sales animator... ), Personal Care and Services (hairdressing, beauty care, dental prosthesis, personal assistance), Automotive Trades (car mechanics, road transport, motorbikes, agricultural equipment, green spaces and public works, bodywork and body painting) and Wood and Sawmill Trades since the takeover of the CFA in Ambert

The diplomas prepared range from the CAP to the BTS, as well as the Mentions Complémentaires, the Bac Professionnel or the Brevet Professionnel.

The school has more than 3 hectares of land with 15,000 m2 of premises, an amphitheatre, a training restaurant and workshops and laboratories equipped with modern material adapted to the reality of the company.
